On 7 July 2026, the GOLF4GENS consortium successfully held its 2nd Transnational Project Meeting online, bringing together partners from across Europe to review progress and coordinate the next phase of the project. The meeting focused on Work Package 2 – Elaboration of the GolfBridge Model, ensuring that all activities remain aligned with the project’s objectives, timeline, and expected outcomes under the Erasmus+ Sport Programme. The agenda included a comprehensive review of WP1 project management activities and the progress of all WP2 tasks and deliverables.
A major milestone discussed during the meeting was the successful submission of Deliverable D2.2 – Integrated Research Report on Best Practices in Circular Economy and Biodiversity through Nature-Based Solutions in Sports Clubs across Europe. This report represents the project’s evidence base, bringing together research findings, partner-country mapping, and examples of transferable good practices that will support the development of all subsequent educational and digital resources.
Partners examined how the findings of D2.2 will contribute directly to the next stages of the project, including the Integrated Framework for Circular Economy and Biodiversity Education through Nature-Based Solutions (D2.3), the Monitoring and Evaluation Framework (D2.4), the Sustainable Golf Minds Educational Programme (D2.5), the AI-powered Learning Golf Assistant (D2.6), and the GOLF4GENS Gamified and Visual Toolbox (D2.7). The meeting emphasised the importance of ensuring that every future output is firmly grounded in research while remaining practical and accessible for grassroots golf clubs.
Another important topic was the preparation of the national workshops, which will take place in each partner country during July and August 2026. These workshops will present the key findings of the research report, introduce the Digital EU MAP with Virtual Communities of Practice (VCoP), and engage coaches, golf club managers, educators, and other stakeholders in validating and enriching the project’s work. Partners also agreed on a common workshop structure, communication materials, and reporting procedures to ensure consistency across all participating countries.
The consortium further reviewed the development of the Digital EU MAP with VCoP, discussing how the collected good practices will be transformed into a searchable online repository featuring practical case studies, interactive learning resources, and collaborative discussion opportunities. The meeting also explored the integration of these resources into the project’s future educational modules, AI-powered learning assistant, gamified toolbox, pilot activities, and sustainable roadmap for grassroots golf clubs.
In addition, partners agreed on several immediate actions, including preparing workshop materials, finalising website content for the good-practice repository, defining common monitoring indicators, and developing scenario-based learning resources. These activities will ensure that the knowledge gathered through research is effectively translated into practical tools that support sustainable club management, biodiversity protection, and circular economy practices in grassroots golf.
The meeting concluded with a clear set of priorities and responsibilities for the months ahead, reaffirming the consortium’s shared commitment to delivering innovative, evidence-based solutions for sustainable grassroots golf across Europe. Through continued collaboration, GOLF4GENS is building a strong foundation for helping golf clubs become more environmentally responsible while creating engaging learning opportunities for coaches, players, volunteers, and local communities.
Exciting initiative bringing innovation, sustainability, and education together to make golf greener, more accessible, and more connected across Europe!
